Brief / profile
The Echoing- Sand Mountain is also renowned as the sand dunes offering a fabulous view of the desert. Surrounded by rolling ridges and cliffs, the dune can reach a height of 250 meters.

Location
This mountain is located 5 kilometers south of Dunhuang City, Gansu Province.

Why got its this name
At the first, the sand is just whispering under your feet. While when you slide further, its sound becomes louder and finally just like the sound from thunder or a drum. The sand is just like singing and others say it’s like an echo. Therefore, the mountain got this name.ening during the summer days. In addition, the enjoyment of the beautiful sunset is also highly advised.

Legend and Story
There’s a legend about this mountain. In the ancient times, a general with his army came here to fight
with their enemies. While just during the battle, a violent wind buried all the armies. However, the

soldiers went on fighting under the sand. Therefore, the sound is said to be the roar of armies.

Present condition
Nowadays, it has been listed as a key national sightseeing destination and attracts millions of tourists every year.
