Covering an area of about 1 acre, The Southern Mosque is an important historic heritage site with 1,100 Moslems.
Location
This mosque stands in the downtown area of Urumchi, Xinjiang Autonomous Region.
History
It was originally built in 1919. Later, the mosque was been renovated under 3 circumstances.

In addition, its unique architectural feature can be best displayed in the prayer hall, the bathing pool, the guest reception hall and the tower. Among them, the prayer hall is the most outstanding one with a capacity of 300. Its roof is covered by glazed tiles with carved colorful pictures. 22 flying dragons are carved on the side of the architecture.
