History
This project was originally built roughly in 1372 during the early Ming Dynasty. It became a complete defense system until 1539. It served as a key passageway of the Silk Road.
Legend and Story
A legend is about the construction of the pass. It goes like this: the official in charge of the pass ordered to the designer to estimate the exact number of bricks needed when Jiayuguan Pass was being planned. The designer gave him a number. However, the official doubted his answer and asked whether the bricks would be enough. Therefore, the designer added one. When the project was completed, one brick left which was put loosely on a gate.
Transportation.
As for the transportation, we advise you to take a taxi to Jiayuguan Pass from Jiayuguan City.
Admission fee.
The admission fee is RMB 101during the period from May 1st to October 31st and RMB 61 from November 1st to April 30th including the admission to Jiayuguan Pass, other cultural relics in the neighborhood, the Great Wall Museum as well as a postcard.
